containing containers

admin » 10 September 2008 » In h.a.i.t. (how awesome is that?) »

I was in the Container Store today and found the most bizarre plastic containers. At first I was really entertained, but then realized how utterly wasteful and ridiculous these designs really are. I put them in the category of H.U.A.I.T (how un-awesome is that?  aka craptastic).

here’s the thing. not only do the images make me NOT want to put anything in there, or eat anything that was in there…….But, as the designs expand to other products, to more ridiculous it gets.
For example, what is the purpose of having a hotdog container? I guess a lot of the hotdog packaging is not resealable. But do you really eat only one hotdog at a time. Isn’t this typically a bbq food? And doesn’t bbq’s imply a group of people. So in essence, you have an entire container made so that you may store the remaining 2 hotdogs that weren’t eaten (cause hotdogs come in packs of 10 and buns in pack of 8)? WTF man?
This one is my favorite! BACON! How insane is this thought process!? “Ok, here’s my idea. So you buy a package of bacon. Now when you get home, you take the bacon out of that package and put it in this new one. Pretty good, right?”. NO! Idiot! Not only is that a moronic idea and craptastic design, but an awesomely successful increase in waste. Why package something once, when you can do it twice?

Ew, can you imagine how funky that box gets after a few months of use(then of course, you have to trash it). Yuk!
